Greetings, fans and friends of 'Elfhunter', 'Fire-heart', and 'Ravenshade'.
We finally have a new means of communicating online, and I am excited about it! Feel free to sign up and participate, or just lurk...we don't mind! Watch this space for new topics, as I (we) will be posting them often. Announcements, additional insights into the world of Alterra, and good old fashioned discussion and dialogue will be just a few of the features here. Welcome, friends old and new!

Hey Archer,
Nice looking site! But I don't see a link where I can buy the 'magenta bags'. What's with that?
Posted by: Terry Cloutier | July 11, 2008 at 07:30 AM
Hey, Terry:
The bags are PINK, mate! They only have magenta highlights. And, I'm hoarding them. (But, for a friend, I would turn some loose.) Ha!
So, here's my recipe for beef jerky: (it rocks!)
Turn your oven on low. Works better than dehydrator.
Marinate thin strips (the thinner, the better) of flank steak in soy sauce until it makes you happy. I use lower salt kind. One may also use Worcestershire.
Drape the beef strip across the oven rack. Put a foil-lined cookie sheet underneath them, on the next rack down. The beef goes directly on the oven rack. Keep it there until its good and dry...then place in baggies.
It WILL mold eventually...and I keep mine in frig to extend its life. YUM!!!!!

Good morning Archer,
The link still doesn't show up on Firefox (though I haven't played with it much). It does show using IE. The fanfic version of Elfhunter meets Lord of Chaos may work out to include The Zone as well. Things are really getting weird the more I think about it.
Anyway, not that the Alterra trilogy is over, what's next? I will be getting books 2 and 3 since I liked book 1 so much.
Do have a great day! I'll be back.

Hey, Archer. Thought we'd drop a line. Hope all is going well since the troll incident began. We don't understand people like them. We're glad you have the Amazon police on the case.
One of these days we WILL buy your book. First we need money. Buying a house sucks up all of one's funds.
Take care.

Hiya, guys!
Matt and Steph...let's just trade books instead! cheaper for all! I KNOW about money and horses (err...I mean, houses). So wonderful to see you all here! YAY! Pink Bags for everybody! Wait another day for the trailer--takes a while to license and such--should be all over the internet tomorrow!
(I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere! So, beware!)
Heres to a bunch of indies, would-be indies, non-indies, and readers all gettin' together for discussion, dialogue, and the occasional inanity!
Watch for NEW, cool blog topics (I have crafted one about the origin of Olcas, and am working on another about the biology of Elves in Alterra. Can't help it...biologist, you know!) Also will post an Alterran languages lexicon, if anyone wants me too.

Archer. Let us know how you would like to do the swap. We'd love to do this with you. Our books are about the same price. Can't hurt, can it? Looking forward to reading your book. Hope you like ours as well. Beware entering the minds of a married couple writing Fantasy. Take care!

Matt and Stef: I reckon the best way to do this (for both of us) is to either a. but one another's books on Amazon or b. swap n' ship (you send yours, I'll send mine). If you choose the latter, I will need your address (and you, obviously, will need mine!) :-)
Let me know what you would like to do. If you have additional book to order (I do) you can get free shipping on Amazon.
Posted by: Archer | July 12, 2008 at 02:36 PM
Archer. Probably the easiest way to do this would be to swap addresses. We could do that through our web email: comments@secramore.com If you write to that address, we will give you are home address. Thanks so much. We can't wait to read you book. We hope you like ours as well. :)

Matt and Stef.
You are in for a treat. Archer's book is fantastic. I personally can not wait till I can afford the second and third installments.
Archer.
I hope you are enjoying my little elf's story. I'm very curious, and a little nervous, about what you think of it.
Have a great day!

Hmm... now where'd CS go? She must be here somewhere...

C.S. has been battling trolls and internet outages! Yarrgggh. Trying to ignore the one, and fix the other. Ignoring the one isn't hard; fixing the other is. We're trying a new system. Hope it works! Tanner: I posted my first ever review of a book on Amazon today. It's tough to craft a good one. (Well, tougher than most people think) Yours is next on the reading list! I'm looking forward to it.
Hiya, Foxy!
There will soon be some new and informative topics to comment on...I have been forced to neglect the blog since our outages have laid us low! Matt and Steph, hit the 'contact us' button on the elfhunter 'forums' page (that you go to to get here) and we'll get hooked up, ok?
VIDEO TRAILER is OUT...and it's everywhere! You can access on YouTube, MySpace video, Veoh, Google Video...just type 'elfhunter' into the search. LET ME KNOW what you think!!! (I'm so excited...)

That was cool! I loved the music and pictures. Bravo! I can't wait for the movie, too. That trailer will be even better! Great job, Cs. once again you amaze us! (And you composed ALL that music!? Wow! That was awesome! I want it!)
Posted by: Fox22 | July 17, 2008 at 10:29 AM
Thank you, Foxy. I would also point out that the 'whisper track' is the English translation of the Alterran Elvish in the song. The voices are all mine. SO glad you liked it...would it make you want to look into the book further? We wonderssss, preciousssssss!
Posted by: Archer | July 17, 2008 at 10:10 PM
I would definently want to look further into the book after seeing that. I think that's really the first time I've seen a video for a book.

Let us know how GenCon went. Hope you did well and built upon your ever-growing network. We would love to see any pictures you might have taken. We are very interested in learning more and possibly attending the 2009 event. We have already printed out 2008's documents regarding GenCon, though we would like to speak directly to you about it. That is if you don't mind, of course. Take care, and good luck!

Cs sold more than 120 copies. Yay! (Money well spent!)

Hi, C.S.,
Just curious, will you release a CD featuring songs from Alterra? After watching the trailer numerous times and reading about Gaelen singing to her companions during their adventures, I'm absolutely convinced that there should be some sort of Music CD featuring Alterran Elvish songs. I'm curious to know how different the music of the Sylvan Elves would be from the Eolarian Elves. Even if it's only a limited edition, it would be a real treat that I'm sure every fan of your book would like to enjoy.
Of course, you know I'll be the first in line to get a copy and would gladly open up the piggy bank to listen to some more of your wonderful music!

Hi, Kevis:
There are plans for a cd, but not quite what you're describing. There will be a couple of songs in Elvish, but only one is Alterran. Others are in Sindarin. The rest of the cd is made up of filk songs, many with an LOTR theme. Round out with some good old fashioned Celtic stuff, and we're there.
I'd love to write enough songs in Alterran Elvish to fill a cd, but it's not easy to do. (If I were an actual musician, it would be easier.) Regrettably, I only have so much time, and I'm stuck in to book four (wrote seven fabulous pages yesterday!! woo-hoo!).
I promise, though, that if I record another Alterran Elvish song, I'll send you the file so you can hear it. Right now, the difference between Eolarin High-elven and Cuinari (Sylvan) isn't all that large--some root words are different, and there are some grammatical differences. High-elven is more formal. Sylvan and Eolarin, however, tend to be more alike than either is to Eadramin, which is very involved and flowery.
(Note: pronunciations are as follows: Ay-oh-LAR-in, Kwee-NAR-ee, Ay-ah-drah-MEEN)
Posted by: Archer | January 26, 2009 at 06:26 AM
Thanks for the heads up on the correct pronunciations of Elvish languages. And of course, you know I'll be on the look out for that CD, whatever form it takes.
Take care!

Oh, a CD? Sounds fantastic! I wouldn't mind spending a few spare dollars for some good music.
And don't worry about being a 'professional musician.' I play plenty of instruments, but if you told me to make a song, it wouldn't be an easy task at all. Just write down what comes to you, and have fun with it! :-)
(I'm thinking violin accompaniment! I better practice.) =)

Foxy:
A fiddler, eh! Cool. Since I do Celtic stuff, that fits right in.
Putting the finishing touches on Chapter 11 of book 4; right now about 55,000 words (translates to maybe 130 pages of book). I like the new storyline--quite an adventure the characters are involved in. We've got some cool new ones, also.
Well, back to work! :-)

Far from experienced; but already knowing how to read music makes it SO much easier!
(New characters! Woo-hoo!)
=)

New characters make this one happy! :-)

Hello C.S. I believe that we have a common friend. I work at the horse track and work closely with a Dr. Ferguson who speaks very highly of you and your talents. I expressed interest to him about getting in touch with you because I am working on my own series of books and just was hoping that I could talk to you some time through email or something. I gave him my information to give to you, and he siad he gave it to you. I really hope to hear from you sometimes. I have nearly completed my first book and am working on outlines for the second and third. I know its hard to get books published these days and I have been looking at the self-publishing company that I believe that you used. I have so many questions, perhaps we can communicate one day. I would love to get the opionon from an accomplished writer about my story and just pick your brain so I am better educated. If you want to email me that would be great, my email is iamwhatiam2787@aol.com. Thank you very much.
